ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Computer Science and Application are the fastest growing fields globally, with applications that touch nearly every area of society. A number of important changes have been taken place during the last decade in the corporate world and in the business environment. These changes have brought with them new challenges which can serve new opportunities. Computer Science Department in B.P.H.E.Society’s Ahmednagar College is a teaching department that aims at providing quality education in Computer Science and Application. As with any education institution, students give the department a dynamic character and an active culture towards Computer Science, guided by HoD Dr.Sayyad Razak and their faculty members. Apart from teaching graduate and postgraduate level Computer Science and application, the faculty is also involved in various duties at the level of university/College/Department. Some faculty members qualified SET/NET exams and awarded with PhD .The support structure of the department provides all the required non-academic support to the students and the faculty.

The Department of Computer Science offers the following undergraduate programs: ● BSc.(Computer Science) ● B.B.A (Computer Application) ● BCA Post Graduate Courses ● MSc(Computer Science) ● MSc(Computer Application) have been introduced by the PUNE UNIVERSITY. It is the important step in the direction of educational reforms. Computer science department was established in the academic year 1992. BSc.(Computer Science) earlier known as BCS is the first course which was introduced at the beginning i.e. the year 1992, MSc(Computer Science) earlier known as MCS in the year of 2000, BCA ,earlier known as BBA-CA in the year of 2005, BCA Science in the year of 2016. and M.Sc (CA) course in the year 2020. Currently 35+ well qualified teaching staff (NET/SET/M.Phil/PHD) and 6+ Non-teaching staff is working in the department. All Staff members involved Computer department furnished with 1000+ students, 6+ class and 9+ labs. Computer science students progressively involved in various activities like NSS , NCC ,Sports , co-curricular activities (Project/ Industrial training, etc) , Extra- curricular activities ( Departmental level programs like Desh Mera Rangila / Dastan E Ahmednagar / Women Empowerment week, etc). Staff members under the guidance of HoD take efforts to arrange placements drives in the department. Teachers encourages them for more actively participate in all activities which prepare students to lead the development and Applications in the field of Computer Science.

DEPARTMENT REPORT:

Toppers (2022-2023) : Farhan Shaikh (B.Sc.CS), Aniket Borude (BCA), Aachal Khandelwal (BBA-CA), Shubham Darkunde (M.Sc.CS), Suyog Kulkarni (M.Sc.CA). Significant Placements (2021-2022) : Payal Thube from B.Sc.CS. in Capgemini, Samruddhi Hiwale from B.Sc.CS. and Dhanashree Jadhav from M.Sc.CS. in TCS, Prakash Jagtap from B.Sc.CS and Bharat Tagad M.Sc.CA and Mansi Jadhav (BCA) in Infosys. Seminars : The Seminar on Data Science was conducted in year 2022-2023 by Javed sir over a period of two days in which the students of different disciplines were educated and introduced to Pravinyam- A Data Science lab initiative. The Department of Computer Science conducted a guest lecture on the topic Internet of Things on the 19th of October 2022. The resource person - Prof. Kirankumar P Johare, Head of Electronics Science (MVP Satana College,Nashik), Second Year MSC ( Computer Application) staff and students visited IMS CDR library on 05/09/2022. Dr. Swati Barnabas ma'am guided on Library resources, E-Resources to PG students. Faculty of department Ms. Ayesha Sayyad has been awarded P.hD in 2023.
