ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Political Science has been working since the inception of the College in the year 1947 Political Science. The post graduate course was started in 1959. The Department has made remarkable progress in arranging the guest lecturers and group discussions. The Department takes individual interest, care and concern in promoting the studies of the students. It encourages the students to actively participate in the teaching learning, research and evaluation activities. It also maintains cordial elation with the students and staff members. Department has been striving hard to improve the education standard of its students and their results in the examination. Department is getting good results.

The following persons have played important role in the shaping and developing the Department of Political Science in the capacity of Head of the Department Dr. Kantilal Bhagat, Dr. R. C. Shaikh, Prof. K. P. Jadhav , Dr. B. A. Kamble, Dr. S. J. Kavade in Present Dr. S. B. Wadekar Dr.V.V. Nabde, Ms. P. C. Ghodke, Mr. A. R. Bansode, Mr. S. S Borude, Ms.A. A. Sagade, Ms. P. N Dudhade are working in the department. The Department of Political Science seek to provide students with a learning experience that will equip them to face the challenges of an increasingly complex job market and prepare them to become active and engaged citizens at the local, national and international levels. The political science program provides students with a broad-based political education. This includes a strong background in the fundamental branches of our discipline: Constitution of India, Political Process in India, Comparative politics, international politics, political theory and public administration. Political science students acquire practical experience and develop connections in the community.

DEPARTMENT REPORT:

Student’s Achievements: • Padalkar Rasika Stood First in FYBA Political Science Subject. Sanap Neha Stood First in TYBA Political Science. Aditya Chetri Stood First in M.A Political Science. • Mr. Haridas Sakharam Kolugude won 3rd prize in ‘Mock Parliament’ competition held at New Arts College, Shevgoan on 23rd May 2022. • Dept. of Political Science won the Inter Departmental Football Championship 2022-23 on 26th August 2022. Rohit Yewale (TYBA) scored two goals for the winning team. 15 students of the Department participated as a team. Department of Political Science was awarded with the cash prize from the Principal Dr. R. J. Barnabas. • 06 students of the Dept. of Political Science participated in Avishkar Research Project 2022-2023 which held in Ahmednagar College on 13th September 2022. Out of which 3 students Miss. Shmbhavi Walimbe and Miss. Nidhi Narang of F.Y.B.A. and Muskan Pande of S.Y.B.A. selected for zonal level competition.
